
Thesenior Haryana IPS officer, identified as Puran Kumar 2001 batch officer, allegedly died by suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at his Chandigarh residence on Tuesday October 7, 2025,
• Deceased officer: Y. Puran Kumar, 52, an IPS officer of the 2001 batch. She was recently posted as the inspector general of the police training centre PTC in Rohtak’s sunaria.

He left behind and 8 page final note (also referred to as a suicide note) , and a “will” bequeathing his property to his wife.
The note reportedly named multiple senior IAS and IPS officer, saurus cite 8 to 16 names, including Haryana DGP shatrujeet Singh Kapoor and the Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya.
The note and the wife’s complaint a allege continue blatant caste based discrimination targeted mental harassment public humiliation and astrocities by senior officers.
The officer was part of the scheduled caste community

- wife’s complaint and FIR:
His wife senior IAS officer Amneet P, Kumar filed a formal complaint to the police and wrote the chief minister demanding an FIR and the immediately arrest to the officers named especially the DGP and the Rohtak SP.
She alleged her husband’s death was the result of systematic per se question and climate FR register in Rohtak against one of her husband’s former staff members was a conspiring to implicate him.
Chandigarh police register an FIR number 156 on charge of abetment to suicide (under section 108 of BNS) and under the scheduled cast and scheduled tribes

Act has been invoked in the FIR. - government Actions and investigation:
The Haryana government on Saturday October 11 transfer Rohtak SP Narendra bijarniya replacing him with Surinder Singh bhoriya. Bijarnia was one of the officers named in the note.
A six member a special investigation team SIT headed by Chandigarh IG Pushpendra Kumar has been constituted to investigate the case.
Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini has assured that the guilty will face action irrespective of their position and urged opposition not to politicize the matter. - Family’s stand:
The family has refused to give contsent for the post mortem and cremation until their demands for action,
Including the arrest of the named officials are met. The officer’s body was moved from one hospital to anyother without their consent, leading to an objection from the family.
A 31 member committee, the Shahid Y Puran Singh Nyaya Sangharsh morcha has been formed to support the family’s demands.
